George Strait is seeing just how much his hometown crowd appreciates him. The country legend has set a new ticket sales record with his upcoming show in San Antonio, Texas.
More than 72,000 tickets for Strait's June 1st concert were gone in just six minutes, which is both the largest and fastest sell-out for the Alamodome.
The venue opened in May 1993 - just three days before Strait's 41st birthday - and is locally called "The house they built for George."
The San Antonio date is the 16th sold out show on Strait's "The Cowboy Rides Away" tour, and will wrap up the first leg of the singer's two-year farewell trek. His next concert is coming up at Houston's Reliant Stadium on March 17th. At that event Strait is expected to preform before a record crowd of more than 77-thousand fans. The show, which will also feature Martina McBride and the Randy Rogers Band, will close out this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
