Little Big Town spent Tuesday afternoon volunteering at Nashville’s Second Harvest Food Bank to raise awareness for ConAgra Foods’ Child Hunger Ends Here campaign. The band worked with several kids from a local youth organization to stuff backpacks full of food for children who are unlikely to receive meals at home over the holidays or on the weekends.
Jimi Westbrook said, “I think awareness is the best thing because I think a lot of Americans probably don’t know that this is going on. We always want to go other countries and help them and that’s all great. But we’ve got to take care of our own, too, because it’s so prevalent. There are 17 million children who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.”
Little Big Town also recorded the charity single “Here’s Hope” to support the initiative. The band premiered the track at the ACMs in April.
