Clyde "Bo" Raymond Pickler, Jr. spent much of his daughter's childhood behind bars for various crimes, including a three-year stint in prison for aggravated battery and assault.
The country singer was devastated to learn about the six-year-old, who suffers from septo-optic dysplasia and was told a week before Christmas she will lose her vision.
In a statement, released to People.com, the happy couple says, "We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together."
Brooks donated half a million dollars to a hospital that was supposed to go toward a wing named after Brooks' late mother, but the project was never completed.
