Man Who Walks 17 Miles To Work Given New Bicycle

A young man in Oklahoma who walks more than 17 miles to and from work now has a new bike to make his commute easier. Donte Franklin spends two and a half hours a day getting to and from his job at Buffalo Wild Wings, but after someone stopped to offer him a ride on a scorching day, his luck changed.

Michael Lynn saw the 20-year-old hoofing it to work, gave him a ride and learned more about his story. It turns out, he was walking more than eight miles to his job, working his shift and then walking another eight-plus miles home. After their talk, Lynn posted about Franklin’s circumstances on Facebook and offers of help rolled in.Kerri Collins, administrator of the biker charity group My Riding Buddies Oklahoma, saw the post and was so touched by Franklin’s efforts, the group surprised him with a brand-new bike.

And the GOOD news keeps coming! A GoFundMe page has been set up to get Franklin a car and it’s raised over $33-thousand! He still needs to secure a driver’s license, so for now, the bicycle is the ideal way for him to get around. “It’s a blessing,” Franklin says. “I really appreciate it and I’m thankful for it.”
