Strangers Help Lost Elderly Man Reunite With Son Across Country

A 79-year-old Arizona man who was driving across the country to see his son in Wisconsin made it there safely thanks to some good Samaritans he met. Dennis Milentz had gotten lost several times along the way, including once near Woodhull, Illinois, where he was lucky enough to meet locals Elton Hood and Tracy Eckhardt. He told the couple that he was making the roughly 16-hundred-mile journey to see his son, who he hadn’t seen in 18 years.

The couple listened to Dennis describe the trip, how he didn’t know how to work his GPS and added an extra 200 miles to his total. They wanted to help and gave him their phone number in case he needed them. When he called not 15 minutes after he got back on the road, they felt like the right thing to do was to have him follow them to Wisconsin, so the three of them made the three-hour trip and got Dennis to his son.

But the story gets even better! After finding out that Dennis’ family was not going to be able to escort him back to Arizona, Elton and Tracy decided to make the trip with him to make sure he gets home safely. And then someone heard about the story and offered to buy Dennis a plane ticket home. He accepted and will be flying back, all thanks to the kindness of strangers.
